1️⃣ FAA Rules Apply First
— In Georgia (like all U.S. states), any commercial drone operation must follow FAA Part 107 rules.
That means:
The drone pilot must have a Remote Pilot Certificate.
Flights must be under 400 feet AGL (Above Ground Level).
You must keep the drone within line of sight.
No flying over people or moving vehicles without a waiver.
Daytime or civil twilight only, unless the pilot has a night waiver.
If you’re hiring a company (like Augi Drones!), you’re covered — your pilot should already have the license and waivers if needed.
2️⃣ Georgia Has No State-Level Drone Registration
Georgia doesn’t have state-specific drone pilot licenses. You just follow the FAA requirements.
However, local cities can add restrictions. For example:
— Some Georgia cities (like Atlanta) may have park or local ordinance rules that restrict drone flights in certain public spaces.
— Private property laws still apply. You need permission to launch from or fly over private land if you’re doing low-altitude work.
3️⃣ Privacy Laws Apply
Georgia’s general privacy and trespassing laws still matter:
— Don’t use drones to spy on people.
— Don’t intentionally capture private activities on neighboring properties.
— If you break these, you could face civil penalties.
4️⃣ Special Sites
No flying in or near restricted airspace — like over military bases or near airports.
Metro Atlanta, for example, is near Hartsfield-Jackson Airport — so FAA airspace rules are strict. A licensed pilot will know how to check for Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) or airspace authorizations.
